its not me, its an austrian monster baby.

i got a full-time job where theyll allow me to work 40 hours a week and get paid some money for it. i can finally breathe this chicago air fully. and its not so shockingly cold anymore.

im a scientist and this finds a way into every aspect of my living. i have trouble doing something creative if theres no purpose or goal. i am constantly planning, trial and erroring, testing, researching...not so much as i would like am i pondering, meditating, considering, dreaming...is this just me with no way out?

i bet riding my bike in a month or two will help solve all the world's problems from poverty to laziness to emptiness. because that's how i feel and that's how much hope i put in my little, bright blue road bike. helmet optional. bikes save lives.

Proud to say I've broken my coffee-in-the-morning addiction.  I think part of it is that I've seen for some time the impending end to my job as the front desk attendant at the Ruth Page Center for Performing Arts.  Back when there was no end in sight, I thought I needed that boost in the morn.  I also got used to seeing those familiar faces at White Hen... Always asking if I wanted a bag for my coffee and banana......  ?  I guess it's certainly likely that I could be embarrassed to be walking around with a banana in hand in the streets of Chicago, or in that case that my coffee is from White Hen and not one of the three Starbuck's stores within 1.5 blocks from this building.  Coffee in a bag just don't make no sense.

Oh and I'm ditching a couple hours of work today to go to the Shedd Aquarium with Dylan.  Not a bad deal especially since my parents convinced me that it was absolutely necessary.  See, I have an interview there in TWO days so it makes sense for me to go and get reacquainted with the exhibits and things at the Shedd.  EEP!

I quit the desk job today and my boss got pissed and walked away.

My favorite relationship that I've formed at this job has oddly been with the exterminator whom I've met maybe three times.  He accidentally told me once that he's deathly afraid of rats - at least the live ones.  He's also given me some advice about how to deal with the squirrel that lives in my bedroom wall - smoke em out.  When I said that I guess I don't mind if the squirrels want to share the warmth of my house, the exterminator told me that was very nice.  Neither of us like squirrels though - we agreed that squirrels are cocky and think they're better than us.  Squirrels are unfortunately not considered pests so he doesn't "get to kill them".  He failed the bird identification test with a 67 when he was supposed to get at least a 70, but that was without studying so he thinks pretty highly of himself (even though he failed.)  He does "get to kill sparrows and pigeons".

Yes, I will miss the exterminator.  And the one woman who is always amazed by my hair because one day it's straight and the next it's curly and we discuss teacher jobs because her daughter teaches but apparently has big frizzy hair which is why she can't meet a man....?  People crack me up.
